Here at Conference Connections we’ve always been ahead of the crowd.
In the not too distant past we sat down with some venue chains and suppliers and asked about their policy on recycling and providing Fairtrade products that minimise food-miles and we were laughed out of the room; "Because we take advantage of our national presence, you’ll never change our buying policies" they said.
So we contented ourselves with looking internally - When we organised events we questioned ourselves- "are we being green enough?"
It’s not just about tree-hugging and cycling to the NEC. The entire process of producing an event, film or conference has to be examined for sustainability and greenhouse effects if we want to make sure our creativity is not being used to harm the environment.
Well now the crowd are trying to catch us, and they’re being given a lift by the new BS8901 standard for sustainable events. We’ve always refused to be standardised but this time we’re up for it.
Of course, as industry leaders, we are already well on the way to achieving this standard so watch out for news of our progress. You’ll soon be working with a team of professionals who are not just free-thinkers but are also certifiable!
